As far as scenic locations to get married in Montana, there is nowhere more epic or beautiful than Glacier National Park. I have photographed almost 200 elopements in Glacier since I began the wedding and elopement portion of my photography journey. Transitioning from a wildlife and landscape photographer, into a wedding and elopement photographer was definitely the pinnacle of my career. I get to combine working in the place I love the most with couples celebrating the best day of their lives together. All while incorporating the beauty of the landscapes I have been photographing for decades.
One of my favorite locations to photograph and a popular location for couples eloping in Glacier National Park is St. Mary. While much of St Mary is inaccessible for most of the year, it is a stunning location to get married when the roads are clear. St Mary Lake offers boat tours throughout the summer and it is a great way to see the region from a different perspective.
I love the St Mary region of Glacier National Park, because so many of the wedding locations in St Mary offer a big payoff for little effort. Meaning, a little walk leads to big views.
There are 7 wedding ceremony locations in St Mary.
Rising Sun Amphitheater
Rising Sun Picnic Area Shoreline
1913 Ranger Station
Cutbank Field
And just a reminder that while your ceremony is specific to a permitted location (each with its own regulations), you can go explore and have photos taken in additional locations where the general public is allowed. Always being sure to adhere to park postings, closures, signage, and laws.
